Zechariah 10’s heading in my NASB Scriptures says, “GOD WILL BLESS JUDAH AND EPHRAIM.”
The Bible is a book of truth to a multitude of people. It shows the foibles of mankind, including God’s Chosen People and the Gentiles. The Old Testament tells of God’s love, His directions, His wrath for disobedience, His love for Jew and Gentile—after all He created us all.
The news tells us antisemitism is on the rise, which doesn’t bode well for anybody. It’s difficult for Jewish people to face, I know from a college friend who felt persecuted back in the 1970’s. It’s dangerous for countries who come against Israeli’s. God says, “I will bless those who bless you and curse him that curses you,” to Abraham in Genesis 12:3.
I remember an ice storm that devastated Rochester, NY in the 1990’s. Our church hosted a visiting speaker who spoke about Genesis 12:3. He said, and I paraphrase: Whenever our government took steps to harm Israel, some disaster hurt the USA. Then he’d name a president who withheld favor of some sort that our government used to provide for Israel. Maybe a higher tariff on Israeli goods coming into the country got put into place, or a slander on Israeli motives, for instance. Then a consequence immediately followed: a hurricane hit the Eastern seaboard. Perhaps the US economy faltered. He’d name the action against Israel and the immediate result. He also mentioned when a President decided to favor the Jewish nation, the reciprocal blessing God would shower on our country: perhaps bumper crops for farmers, or a threat from an enemy to our country suddenly disappearing.
Some American college students being influenced to hate Jewish people are fed lies, at what cost to them and to our country? In (Galatians 6:7, NKJV), it says, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
I’ve met a dozen or more Jewish people over the years, starting in childhood. I didn’t see much difference between them and Gentiles. People are people. My dad used to say a Jewish person will help those in need, especially other Jewish people. He bought furniture from a Jewish retailer, a Mr. Cohen. I could hear the respect in my father’s voice.
God says in (Isaiah1:18, NKJV): “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”
God doesn’t expect people to have blind faith. Everyone is made in God’s image. He expects us to use our brains and implores us to seek Him while He may be found. He also says to taste and see that the Lord is good. That’s figurative language.
My husband and I have faced significant trials since the beginning of 2023. God gives comfort, direction, provision, peace and has shown His love to us through our families and extended family members, church family and precious friends. We get cards saying our church is praying for you, people we don’t know from various denominations, lifting our names and needs to God. One recent greeting came from my husband’s sister’s best friend. She wrote, “Our church prays every Tuesday, and we pray for you every week.”
That brought a deep sense of gratitude. Jesus told people to repent of sin for the kingdom of God is near. He told His twelve disciples to “Come, follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”
God loves us. He has a plan for our lives beyond what we might imagine.
If you’ve been brought up to believe Jewish people are inferior or any other kind of slur against them, you should think again. Seek God and ask Him questions and be open to receive answers. He is a living God, a just God. To God be the glory, great things He has done!
If you have food, family, love, clothing, housing, live in America where people are fighting to keep our freedoms as they vote, in the courts, and as troops, praise God, for He has truly blessed you and me.
May God keep you from any evil.
